what is the best cart to use for ecommerce and why do the designs look differernt? Do I need a template with it or just the cart so it can work? thanks
It really depends on the needs of the site. There is no “best cart” in my opinion. There is the “best cart” for the job. I would really need more info from you to help you out with the second question (do you already have a site up, do you plan on just having “buy now” buttons?, etc)

That’s really a matter of opinion and how much you’re willing to spend on the software. Generally speaking, if you’re making a small ecommerce site, you’ll want to go with one of the free options (probably one with the best documentation). If you need a lot of customization either on the back end or with the look-and-feel, a pricier option is for you. For that type, check out:
My personal favorite. They have a list of real-world implementations done with that software so you can have a look at what you might end up with before buying.
Good luck!
