Looking for a website shopping cart software that can be licensed to our company?

shopping cart software
Emeka N asked:

Something like what storefront.net and www.AspDotNetStorefront.com offers. No free shopping cart softwares because they do not allow custom modifications to the software. Most cost $999 per license but we need multiple stores and $1k per does not sit well with us. Let us know if you know any

oscommerce or zencart.

they’re open source, means you can customize as much as you like.

OSCommerce and ZenCart most certainly allows you to modify them — both support plugin-style mods, and you can directly mode the code itself — and both are open source.

Also, Microsoft offers eCommerce starter kits for free that you can customize to your heart’s content.

Almost invariably, open-source, community-supported software is a wiser option than a commercial product. Not only is it generally more secure, you almost always have wider support options — namely, you can find a number of contractors who are flexible on their terms for support, rather than paying a flat fee for a specific support plan.

Different environment (usually Linux), but all Open Source Products allow modifications and give you the source code. A BSD license allows you to keep your mods, GPL requires you return them to the community but you can still mod the source. Check Sourceforge for shopping Carts. Many of us headed this way because of the multiple licensing charges.
