Zen Cart has a free version of it’s e-commerce shopping cart. It wouldn’t be a bad start for your website business.
If you are building your business site from scratch, you will not be able to build all of it completely free. You can use the Zen Cart for free, however you need a web host to operate it on. The free web site hosts you will find (like google.pages) will not allow you to host ecommerce on their servers. The free web site hosts that are out there do not offer you the features that you will need in order to operate an ecommerce site.
You will need to be able to add and edit HTML codes. Also Zen Cart v1.2.x and v1.3.x Minimum/suggested server requirements requirements are PHP 4.3.2 or higher (PHP 4.4.x for optimal performance), Apache 1.3.x and MySQL 3.2.x or higher. You will be able to find web site hosts starting at 1.99 a month. I would recommend 1and1.com They have packages starting under 5.00 a month.
You might want to look at Paypal. They offer some services free and are a lot easier to set up and add to your web site.

To make a website you need a domain and webhosting.The best way to buy a domain for free is to purchase your domain and webhosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some webhosting companies offer this as a gift . I am using bluehost webhosting for mine
