Does anyone know a truly high quality web host?

zen cart
JasonXiao asked:

Hey Yahooligans,

First off, I’d like to list what I have used already:
WebsiteSource
ANHosting
1and1
HostGator

Some were decent and was a good run for the money but they always seem to have some issues with compatibility with eCommerce carts or have random downtime because they over stuff their servers.

I finally decided, I would either have to go VPS but I’d much rather pay $20 or below for a host, not $50. So as a last hope, I am asking the Yahoo community who have had personal hosting experiences to maybe give me a last glimpse of hope to use a Shared Host that can meet my needs, which aren’t much at all, just be able to function with Zen Cart or let me be able to customize the PHP output mode.

So please make your suggestion and by all means, if you use a VSP now, let me know how you like your company. A VPS seems much more likely to work for my businesses.

If the VPS can also let me resell and create separate control panels, that would be a bonus! Heh.

Warm Regards,
Jason

The best I’ve used so far is:
You should check it out. It has support for all major protocols. It has no ads, and is totally free.

Hello Jason,

First off I was wondering what some of the requirements were for the websites you were looking to host? If they’re relatively simple sites without a lot of traffic a low cost VPS would be the way to go. You can find the one I’m referring to in the link I provide.

While I do work for HostMySite, I have also used the service we provide as a customer and am extremely happy with it. I’ve used DreamHost in the past and found that you tend to get what you pay for-if you’re looking for a cheap host, you get cheap support and plenty of downtime. If you go with a more expensive host (eg: hostmysite.com) you’ll get better service (24/7/365, 100% Uptime Guarantee, etc.). Whichever route you go I would strongly suggest staying away from anyone that offers unlimited/ridiculous amounts of bandwidth and/or storage space and always call whoever you decide to go through to make sure that if you ever needed to reach someone in times of trouble /downtime, you will be able to.

I would suggest Hostamina.com - You can see an example store hosted by them at - they will help you get the store set up, they have instant shopping carts/stores and great support! This includes Zen Cart.

You should avoid hosts that offer “unlimited” space/bandwidth as this is somewhat of a scam. You should also avoid hosts that offer ridiculous amounts of space/bandwidth, such as 10GB space for only $5/month. Hosts like this overload and oversell servers, and are bad news for anyone who wants reliability.

You should also avoid answers here that send you to review sites, as those sites make money off commissions and rank hosts based on how much money they’ll get paid, not on how good they are. You should avoid answers here that look like they are affiliate links as well, for the same reason.

Hostamina.com is exactly what you need. Support is great! They will help you set up your website, and they will provide you with any help you need. Note that I am not using an affiliate link or sending you to a review site.

-They provide awesome personalized support
-They know how to handle all your business needs
-They never oversell
-They never overload servers
-They offer realistic plans
-You actually get what they say you get
-There is no fake “unlimited” space or bandwidth
-There is no fake “50,000 GB” space or bandwidth
-They will help you with anything you need help with
-They will put you on a super fast server
-Every server has at least dual quad core processors
-Every server has at least 4GB of RAM
-Every server has strict account limitations
-Most companies average 300 accounts per server
-Hostamina averages 100 accounts per server
-Instant Shopping Carts, Blogs, Forums, PHP-Nuke, Joomla, and more!

You should check out myhostsource.com.
$19.95/month Application Complete PS-DLL plan would likely do everything you need. There are cheaper plans but some shopping carts and PHP script requires dll support.
